BeginnerWith the new year of 2019 we too arrive with something new: a spruced-up format for our PPC round-up. Our developers have built you a completely new and, above all, clearer structure, divided by what the news concerns. The first month of the new year brought several significant developments that are interesting and worth mentioning. We have already picked the ones we rate top and that are certainly worth testing. Perhaps something will catch your eye too, so enjoy the read. :)
From now on Google will automatically create and refresh custom intent audiences based on the most common keywords and content URLs people view when looking for a product or service, as well as on the existing audience targeting in your account. Creating these audiences automatically is above all an advantage for new advertisers.

Have you come across the news that display keyword targeting will gradually disappear from our campaigns? Google tells us about the change in the interface itself when creating new display targeting. This targeting should not vanish altogether — it will simply be replaced by a newer form, custom intent audiences, which we can already build from search queries, contextually related words and URLs. We will miss this targeting all the same. :(

Google has introduced a new feature, "dynamic prospecting", whose aim is to show customers the right products. Unlike dynamic remarketing, which shows customers products based on their past interactions with your site (the products they viewed), this new feature uses your product feed to show shoppers relevant products based on their past interactions with Google and with other publishers' sites.
Have you noticed in your accounts that the BETA version of responsive search ads is now available in Slovakia as well? The wait is over and we can finally test it here too. Excited? We certainly are. :) For anyone who has not yet heard of this new format, it is an ad type meant to make A/B testing ad copy easier for advertisers. Google lets advertisers set up one ad with several headlines and several descriptions. Advertisers can enter up to 15 headlines of up to 30 characters, against the current 25, and 4 descriptions of up to 90 characters, against the current 80. Google then automatically tests and looks for the best combination matching users' search queries and most likely to reach the goal you have set.

Google text ads can now appear in YouTube search results as well. Google says tests showed similar performance results for text ads on YouTube. For now this works only on mobile devices. What changes? — YouTube joins the search partner network. What does that mean? — Search campaigns with text ads are enrolled in this programme. It means a text ad can appear after a search on YouTube when users search for keywords relevant to your campaign.
YouTube said it had been testing this option for several months. The results are positive: on average, text ads in mobile YouTube results perform comparably to Google search on a cost-per-conversion basis. Ad extensions are not supported at present, but there are plans to work on that too.
YouTube is the world's second largest search engine, visited daily by no small number of users. According to studies, YouTube recorded a 150% rise in conversions from ads last year, which is certainly not to be dismissed and makes YouTube an ideal advertising space. Right at the start of the year YouTube arrived with a new format: a 15-second non-skippable video. It is an upgrade on the current 6-second non-skippable ad, which in our experience can achieve half the cost per thousand impressions of a classic skippable in-stream ad. The advantage of the new format is that we have more room to catch the user's interest. We cannot wait to test it and look at the results. :)

For anyone unfamiliar with it, Quora is a social network where users try to learn as much as they can about a product or service through topics and questions. So your prospective customers are here, and they have strong intent to buy your product or service. Until now only targeting by topic and question was available on this platform, but this month new contextual keyword targeting has joined them. It lets you target questions containing your specific keywords. If you already run campaigns on Google, you can easily reuse those keywords on this platform. Two keyword match types are available: broad and phrase match. As on Google, besides setting the keywords we want to target, we can also set negative words and phrases we do not want the ad to show for. If you use Quora ads, this is certainly worth testing. :)

Last year brought a great many new stickers to light, through which your stories can be made more appealing and more dynamic. One such novelty is the question sticker, which encourages people to interact more with your profile. Now a new update to that sticker is coming. You can use it during live video as well, and the public can put questions to you live, visible to everyone. You can respond to those questions and requests right there in the live video. So it offers even greater interaction with your audience. :) What do you say?

Also available, as a complete novelty, is the countdown sticker. You can create your own sticker with the date and time you want counted down, and customise the text, the emoji and the sticker's colour.

LinkedIn is a particular sort of social network, and its popularity and user numbers are slowly rising. Advertising on it is not as widespread here, yet it has interesting options for targeting by profession, company size, field and so on, which are missing on Facebook and Instagram. New features do not arrive on this platform regularly or on the scale seen on other, more popular networks. This month, though, LinkedIn came out with something new: targeting based on professional interests and topics such as automation, artificial intelligence, the global economy and so on. For certain campaign types and clients this will certainly be an interesting new targeting option.

New ad objectives on Reddit include reach, video views, traffic and conversions (goals). On 30 January 2019 Reddit announced the launch of cost-per-click ads. Reddit plans to add further bidding strategy options. Currently on offer are cost per click and cost per impression. According to Reddit the new bid-type ad offering is the first major step the company has taken to raise its performance and will open up more advertising space here.
The new ad product launched globally on 25 January 2018 and is available for Facebook, Instagram and the Audience Network. The feature will let car dealers retarget users who visited their sites, apps and car-related pages. Facebook has made it possible for car dealers to make full use of the Facebook Pixel for ad targeting. With this latest version of the ad format, advertisers can remarket to users who visited another car-related site as well. Remarketing need no longer be limited to visits to your own website. Studies show that beta users at Santa Monica Lexus saw 3.2 times more views of vehicle detail pages and a 3 times lower cost per page view. Another beta tester, Castle Chevrolet, saw a 27% rise in reach using these ads.
