Personas

Personas in marketing are generalised fictional characters representing ideal customers and standing for different segments of the target market. Creating personas helps marketers understand customers' needs, preferences and behaviour better. It also lets them tailor communication to the target audience, take a more personal approach and offer the right products to the right people at the right time.

A persona is characterised by several basic elements:

  • Demographic information: personas include information about age, gender, income, education, marital status and any other demographic factors important for the target group.
  • Psychographic information: information about personal interests, values, lifestyle, opinions and habits, through which a company can better understand what motivates customers to buy.
  • Journeys and needs: personas include a description of the customer's journey from the moment they learn about the brand to making the purchase itself.
  • Communication preferences: they say which channels and forms of communication are most accessible to these customers and which types of content they prefer.
  • Problems and challenges: creating a persona means identifying the problems and challenges the particular customers face, which makes it easier for the company to find a solution that appeals to them.
  • Language and tone: a detailed persona description makes it possible to determine the right language and tone of communication for those customers.
