Ahrefs

Ahrefs is an SEO tool used in online marketing to analyse and optimise a website. It is used by website owners and SEO specialists who need to move their sites to better positions in Google search.

Ahrefs lets users carry out keyword research and competitor research, track site ratings and audits, analyse backlinks and monitor organic search. Through Ahrefs you can also find content that performs well and draw on it when building your own content strategy.

Advantages

  • The largest backlink database: Ahrefs dominates link profile analysis, which is key for off-page SEO.
  • Data accuracy: compared with many competing tools, Ahrefs offers very accurate estimates of search volume and keyword difficulty.
  • Competitor analysis (gap analysis): it lets you identify keywords your competitors rank for and you do not yet (content gap).
  • Spotting technical errors: Site Audit uncovers hidden problems such as broken links (404), missing meta descriptions or slow-loading pages.
  • User interface: despite the enormous volume of data, the environment is intuitive and visually presented in clear charts.

Disadvantages

  • Higher price: for small businesses or individuals the monthly subscription can be fairly costly (prices start at roughly $99).
  • No free version: unlike some tools, Ahrefs does not offer a full free tier (only the limited Ahrefs Webmaster Tools).
  • Limited reporting for local SEO: although it is world-class globally, for very specific local queries in small Slovak towns the data can sometimes be only indicative.
